Overview

Verge Mobile is a Premier Partner of T-Mobile and we are seeking a Human Resources  Generalist with multi-state experience (California preferred) who desires to utilize their knowledge in a fast-paced retail business. This is a great opportunity to work with a collaborative team in a learning environment. This position will support our operations from our Houston (Royal Oaks) area offices; hours are 9 - 6; Monday - Friday (every Friday, work from home).

 

Position reports to Verge Mobile’s HR Supervisor.

Job Summary

 

Under supervision, the Human Resources Generalist performs human resources-related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all the following functional areas: employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, orientation, recruitment, employment, HRIS, ATS. The HR Generalist ensures compliance in accordance with federal and state regulations, plan provisions, other applicable regulations, Verge Mobile policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

The HR  Generalist supports the field with a high emphasis on Employee Relations, Leave of Absence Administration, Policy Translation, Legal Compliance, Performance Management, and Process Management. This position serves as a strategic business partner to field management and leadership teams.

 

  • Supports the HR function for assigned region(s), while providing a consultative approach on Coaching/Engagement, Individual Assessment, and ER Investigations.
  • Advises and provides recommendations to management on employee relations issues.
  • Manage and resolve employee grievances and conduct internal investigations.
  • Partner and offer guidance with Performance Management when appropriate.
  • Manage and provide support to employees and field management on issues involving medical issues/documentation and update tracking reports.
  • Supports organization in all aspects of unemployment and EEOC claims, and any other employment related matters.
  • Manage leaves of absence claims, including but not limited to personal, military, and medical leaves of absence.
  • Consults on situations involving reasonable suspicion (drug or alcohol use).
  • General benefits administration, coordination, billing reconciliation.
  • Respond to HR related inquiries regarding company policies and procedures.
  • Support in the creation and modification of HR standard operating procedures and other related materials regularly.
  • Research and interprets legislation and administrative rulings regarding Wage & Hour, FLSA, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and any other pertinent federal and state legislation to ensure Company compliance.
  • Examines HR templates and final documents for compliance with Company policy and governmental regulations.
  • Support in daily/weekly audit of employee data.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Multi-state experience is preferred.
  • 3+years of experience in supporting field operations in a human resources capacity, specifically relating to employee relations and investigations.
  • Previous experience supporting benefits administration, a plus.
  • Retail or restaurant HR experience is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with ADP Workforce Now (or UKG, Paycom, Paylocity, Peoplesoft, etc.) ERP/HRIS/ATS systems and integrated modules.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree is preferred.
  • PHR/SHRM-CP preferred not required.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing and has experience in establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with management, hourly team members, and co-workers.
  • Strong conflict management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Substantial and demonstratable knowledge of Wage & Hour, FLSA, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
  • Ability to work as a self-directed individual taking initiative to identify and address business needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs.
  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule and work outside of normal business hours when necessary.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally both locally and long distances (including air travel) to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, submit to releasing a Motor Vehicle Record that adheres to the Verge standards.
  • Must currently reside in Houston, TX (non Houston residents need not apply)
